Second LEDS LAC Workshop and the InterClima Regional Meeting on Low Emission Development Strategies took place in Lima, Peru
From 5–6 December, the Peruvian Government hosted a joint event on Low-Emission Climate-Resilient Development Strategies, which linked the Second Workshop of the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Platform on Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS LAC) of the Global Alliance on Development Strategies Low in Emissions (LEDS Global Partnership) with the annual ´'InterClima'-meeting for climate change management in Peru. The objective of the event was to promote low-carbon development with a resilience approach through the exchange of experiences between experts both from region and outside of it. The event had a special focus on:
- Planning and stakeholder engagement processes
- Policies and good practices
- Analysis of the co-benefits brought through emission reduction
- Low-emission development financing
Around 100 speakers and panelists and more than 200 participants from 25 countries took part in the event. The International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV supported the initiative and hosted a deep dive capacity-building session where key elements and challenges for national MRV systems were discussed using examples from Chile, Mexico, Peru and the United Kingdom.
More information and a summary of the workshop’s inputs and conclusions will soon be available here.
